Good logos don’t happen accidentally. In fact, they happen through lots of brainstorming, collaboration, “aha!” moments, and often, a new perspective. Working with Social Fire Media, you can expect all of the above! Our approach to logo design is brand-centered, which means we always have the “bigger picture” in mind. You won’t find templated, stock, or generic clip-art logos in our portfolio. We understand that a logo is a big deal–after all, it is the face of your company. That’s why we dedicate ourselves to understanding your needs on an individual basis in order to design a logo that is uniquely you.

Ready to get started? Here’s what you can expect the logo design process to look like:

1. Learning Stage (4-5 days)

Define goals

Any good logo begins with a purpose. Whether that purpose is to excite, inspire, comfort, or simply distinguish, a good logo should achieve what it set out to do! When first discussing logo design with a client, we’ll figure out what their goals are and how we can best reach them together. If you’re in the market for a logo redesign, let us know what worked or didn’t work about your current logo. Or, if you’re looking for a new logo, what messaging or feeling do you hope to convey to your audience? Defining your logo goals is the best place for us to start, and ensures the project remains focused through the end.

Deep dive into business

Part of the challenge with creating an effective logo is making sure that it’s not only visually stunning, but also that it makes sense within the context of your brand’s industry and in relation to its competitors. That’s why we’ll insist getting to know your business on a deeper level–beginning with your brand’s story. How did your company come to be? What’s your biggest differentiator or unique selling proposition? How would you (or your customers) describe your brand? These questions aren’t just a formality–they help us to see the whole picture of your brand and make meaningful design choices that will properly convey your story.

2. Concept & Design Phase (1-2 weeks)

Visual elements

Now for the fun stuff! What do you envision your company’s logo to look like? Is it strong and bold, or delicate and detailed? Fun and colorful, or corporate and neutral? What imagery, if any, would you like it to include (or not include)? If you can’t put your finger on what you’re looking for, it can be helpful to reference other logos that you like, and identify why you’re drawn to them. Maybe you don’t have a clear vision for your logo–that’s fine, too! We love having the creative freedom to design a logo that will uniquely represent your brand. Social Fire Media will work with you to create something you love.

Working mockups

Our designers have a knack for translating your brand’s story into a meaningful and memorable logo that will attract and impress your customers. Usually, we already have an idea (or three) in mind within the first few minutes of talking to a client about their logo design needs! To get things started, we’ll sketch up a few concepts, then send over mockups of logos we believe are a good starting point. At that point, we’ll ask you to give us your feedback on the designs. The concepting and design stage of logo design can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the scope of the project and intensity of design.

3. Revision Phase (3-5 days)

Collaborate & refine

The first round of logos we present to clients are usually winners, but if we didn’t nail it on the first try, the revision process begins. Revisions usually involve taking a closer look at the initial concepts and making tweaks based on the client’s feedback. These tweaks might include changes in font, colors, or other small details. It’s rare that we have to go back to the drawing board altogether, but we’re happy to revisit your goals and ideas or take things in a new creative direction. The process can be as collaborative or as hands-off as you decide–there’s nothing we love more than reaching that “Aha!” moment together!

4. Deliverables

Receive all files

Hooray! You love your new logo and can’t wait to use it! Now what? Once we’ve finalized a design, we’ll provide you with all of the digital and print-ready files you’ll need to use your logo across a variety of mediums. (That includes .png, .jpg, .pdf, and .ai, the original, editable file.) And, working with Social Fire Media means you’ll have full rights to use your logo commercially. That means you own your logo, forever–no strings attached.

What are you waiting for? Upload your awesome new logo to your social media accounts, email signature, website, and more!
