clothing boutique case study

Occasions Boutique is a local women’s clothing boutique which offers stylish clothing and accessories for a variety of special occasions including weddings, PROMs, and special events.

In the past, the client had relied on word of mouth, traditional print ads in local magazines, and a small Google AdWords campaign. As a small store with big competition, Occasions needed to sell their tailored approach to their expertise and variety as well as better target their local audience and attract new clients across multiple product lines.  Their sales were stagnant.

As part of the advertising push, an updated design to improve results was key for pageviews and time on site – two popular metrics for SEO.  Small businesses are typically resistant and skeptical to invest in upgraded digital assets such as websites or landing pages, so compelling information needed to be provided quickly within the start-up process once advertising began.  In addition to Occasions’ newly found, responsive website, we were able to respond within hours to accommodate content updates.

In order to compete with the bigger stores, Social Fire Media recommended and started an aggressive AdWords campaign that more effectively targeted their ideal customer by targeting highly niche affinity audiences.  Occasions Boutique sells christening and communion dresses, prom dresses, evening gowns, Mother of the Bride dresses, and much more.  Some of the products were more seasonal, as is their overall foot traffic, so a flexible budget was also utilized to maximize ROI.

the takeaway

A quick start was key to show results so that a small budget could prove to our client that AdWords delivers when optimized properly.  The ability to pivot based on seasonal changes with inventory and slow periods was key as it was necessary to push during key Prom and Wedding seasons.  A complete website redesign that was affordable, and included Search Engine Optimization was key to align with the client’s budget requirements.  Facebook advertising was also used for local awareness and helped to drive foot traffic through specific store events and limited time sales.
